In 2018, Birrong Public School partnered with Blackbook Ink to bring their vision to life—transforming a demountable wall with a vibrant mural. That first project sparked an ongoing collaboration, and since then, we’ve returned numerous times to create 14+ murals, turning the school into a colourful, inspiring space that enhances learning and creativity.

Nature-Themed Murals That Bring Learning to Life

Each mural at Birrong Public School celebrates Australia’s diverse wildlife, featuring stunning depictions of native birds and animals. From rainbow lorikeets and kookaburras to playful galahs, blue fairy wrens, and curious possums, our murals serve as an immersive way to connect students with nature. These artworks don’t just decorate the school—they spark curiosity, fuel imagination, and foster environmental awareness among students.

Expanding the School’s Artistic Identity

Impressed by our previous work, the school invited us back for multiple projects, including murals for a playground corner wall and a water tank. The corner wall mural expanded on our earlier lorikeet design, introducing more native birds and a playful pair of galah’s mid-conversation—a graffiti-inspired piece full of energy and movement that instantly captures attention.

The water tank mural tells a fun, nature-based story, depicting a blue tongue lizard reaching for a snail on a winding branch. This scene adds character to the school’s outdoor space while encouraging students to engage with and appreciate the natural world.
