Blackbook Ink had the privilege of participating in the renowned This Is Not Art festival, held in Newcastle from October 2nd to 5th, 2014. As a team, we sent our talented artists Asone, Puke, and Sekt to contribute to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere by creating a captivating mural along the carpark at Newcastle Panthers, spanning an impressive 70 meters in length and 2.4 meters in height.
When designing the mural, our graffiti artists were mindful of the festival’s objective to provide an engaging and enjoyable experience for the general public. With this in mind, they crafted a design that would captivate and resonate with the community, ensuring that the artwork would be accessible and appreciated by all who encountered it.
The successful execution of this project would not have been possible without the generous support of Ironlak, who provided us with a diverse and high-quality range of colors, enabling our artists to bring their vision to life on the large-scale canvas. Additionally, we are grateful for the assistance and logistical coordination provided by Simone at Street Art Walking, who played a vital role in securing the wall at Panthers and ensuring the seamless realization of this ambitious undertaking.
The outcome of this mural project was immensely positive for the community. The vibrant artwork transformed the carpark into a visually striking and engaging space, drawing the attention and admiration of festival-goers and passersby alike. The mural added a dynamic element to the festival’s atmosphere, serving as a focal point for artistic appreciation and fostering a sense of community pride. It left a lasting impact, generating a sense of inspiration and creating a talking point among residents and visitors to Newcastle.
Through our participation in the This Is Not Art festival and the creation of this remarkable mural, Blackbook Ink contributed to the cultural vibrancy of Newcastle and showcased the power of public art to uplift and unite communities. We are honored to have been part of such a meaningful project, and we remain dedicated to the creation of exceptional street art that enriches public spaces and brings joy to all who encounter it.
